Yes, but their excellence stopped right here. They were effective to bring the ball to Henry and Zidane, who in turn failed somehow to connect fruitfully to Djorkaeff and Duggary (Guivarch earlier in the game). In the rare cases of success, the latter two stuttered profoundly. This was hardly champions material. Don't be fooled by the scoreline which simply didn't give a correct gauge of France's offensive effectiveness.
