No defender with a shade of sanity will *deliberately increase the width of his defensive profile by holding his arms out wide.......to maximize the chance that the ball would hit them* in his OWN PENALTY AREA. Did it come to your mind that his arms were in such positions to balance his body? Did you see that he swung his arm backward, trying to avoid contact with the ball? Please note that I was rooting for Italy instead of Chile.
