A Sad Day for Football

I have written in other posting that today is a DARK day for African football. Indeed it is also a SAD day for football itself.

Not only that Cameroon and Morocco, which were far better performing teams, were eliminated by grossly incompetent refereeing. But also that Norway, the most negative and unimaginative team, was one of the beneficiaries.

Norway knew that they had to defeat Brazil to go through to the second round (with Morocco leading all the way in the other match in the same group). However, they remained purely defensive in their tortoise shell, waiting for miracle to happen, until Brazil scored first at 78'. Only then did Norway come out and tried to attack. How could you be more negative than this?

Besides, the style and tactic of Norway, as somebody here has said, set back football at least ten years. All Norwegians knew was to swing long passes forward and ran after the ball like hell. No brain and skills whatsoever. With team like this squeezing through to the second round, it sure sends a wrong signal to developing football countries around the world.
