Brazil's almost complete lack of a midfield passer will

is not in Davids' class.
Brazil indeed has a very good ball passer, his name is Dunga. I think people have not given enough credit to his ball passing ability. He not only distributes the ball very well in midfiled, he hits inch-perfect long passes upfield as well. Either as daggers to the hearts of defence to create direct scoring chances, or to open space at the flanks for Brazilian attackers to exploit and to thin out defence.
Besides, though both Dunga and Davids are good ball winners, it's unfair to directly compare them since they play quite differently. Dunga relies on his superb positioning; he is 34 now and has never been known for his pace. Davids, on the other hand, is very energetic and speedy.
BTW, I agree with you that it will be far better if Juninho is around.
IMHO, he has the best basic football skills even among the immensely
talented Brazilians, including Ronaldo. Besides, I appreciate his
never-say-die attitude too.
Twice the Brazilians have shown vulnerability to teams that can move
the ball around in the box. The Dutch can. They also surely have the
better goalkeeper.
Brazil did show some vulnerability in defence, but ditto Netherlands, maybe even more so. The faults exposed by the Mexicans and the Argentines will surely be exploited to the fullest by the more potent Brazilian attackers.
Besides, the teams that can give real headache to Brazil are those with strong defence, such as France. Netherlands, though a very good team overall, is not exactly very strong in this department. Its more or less attacking style suits Brazil very well. Brazil has several players, such as Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo etc, who can bring the ball out of defence with good runs upfield very effectively. And don't forget Dunga's defence splitting long passes.
BTW, the thing that worries me the most is whether Cafu's likely replacement Ze Carlos will be able to handle Overmars.
